How we handle the particulars of your family, and what we do not.

A rite requires us to know things — names, tithis, relations, sometimes grief. We treat what you share the way a pandit would: as sacred, specific, and spoken only where it must be.

1. What we ask, and why

To perform a rite on your behalf, we need: your name and contact, the ancestor's name, your gotra (if known), your relationship to the departed, and the tithi. For checkout we collect billing details and the order record needed for Direct Bank Transfer reconciliation.

For reminders and livestream access, your email and phone. For the parchment certificate, your mailing address. We do not ask for your date of birth, income, or caste.

2. Who sees what

The pandit performing your rite receives only the ceremonial details — ancestor name, gotra, sankalpa, and the family members who should be named. Nothing of your billing or contact, unless you explicitly choose to introduce yourself.

Our coordinators see your contact and rite details, so we can message you. Our accountant sees your invoice. No one else inside or outside Pitrupaksha has access.

3. What we will never do

  • Share your ancestor's name with any third party, ever.
  • Sell or rent your contact details.
  • Use your rite history for advertising, either on our site or anyone else's.
  • Retain livestream recordings beyond 30 days unless you ask us to archive them for your family.

4. Cookies

We use exactly three: one to keep you logged in, one to remember your language preference, and one to measure anonymous page counts (no individual tracking, no cross-site following). We do not run third-party pixels, ad networks, or session replay tools.

5. Your rights

You may request a copy of everything we hold about you, and you may ask us to delete it. Email privacy@pitrupaksha.org and we will reply within seven days. For rite records that relate to a ceremony already performed, we keep a minimal archival entry (ancestor name, rite name, date) for the family's future reference — you may still ask us to purge these.

6. Jurisdiction

We operate under Indian law. For visitors in the EU or UK, we comply with GDPR-equivalent standards by contract; the point of contact for data requests is the same.
